Forum on the Haitian Earthquake Disaster
Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 9:20PM Hosted by UCSB Center for Black Studies Research
Last Tuesday's earthquake simultaneously devastated Haiti and traumatized the global community. Once again UCSB is rising to the occasion. We ask that you come and join members of the UCSB community to discuss the tragedy in Haiti and what you can do. The Center for Black Studies Research is sponsoring a forum at the Multicultural Center Auditorium on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 4-6 pm.
We will have presentations by members of the Haitian community: Professor Claudine Michel, Editor of the Journal of Haitian Studies, Director of the Center for Black Studies Research, faculty member of the Department of Black Studies; and Nadege Clitandre, Director of Haiti Soleil and a UC President's Postdoctoral Fellow.
A panel of concerned UCSB, and Santa Barbara, students, faculty, and community members will analyze the tragedy and the response to it. Panelists will also provide information on relief efforts by UCSB organizations and other groups in addition to answering questions.
Finally, thank you for your past, present, and future support of the proud and resilient Haitian people
Sincerely,
Clyde Woods
